Colorado Vampire Romance

A couple of weeks ago, I featured Syrie James's latest, Nocturne (out today), in this Pre-Pub post. It was one of many books I brought along on my holiday trip, but, as usual and unsurprising, I didn't read near as much as I'd planned while I was gone. Had a great time with my family, though, so it's a good trade off.

Stuck inside thanks to snow, cold weather, and much-needed relaxation after our 20 hour drive, I devoured the book this weekend instead. It's a fairly short read, a one-sitting one to be sure, and a steamy one for winter!

Nicole Whitcomb's extra day on the slopes is a bad idea when her drive to the airport turns perilous. Trapped in her car on a rural Colorado road, her accident is witnessed by the reclusive Michael Tyler. Tyler comes to her rescue and offers her warmth and safety in his mountain home until the roads are cleared. Nicole is drawn to the mysterious man, but his quick temper and strange habits point to some serious issues. Nicole can't even imagine his real story, though.

Like I said, Colorado vampire romance. I sure wouldn't mind being saved and housed in Tyler's mountain home during a snowstorm. His pantry would have to be better stocked, but his library alone would be heaven!

Syrie James is the author of Dracula, My Love, The Lost Memoirs of Jane Austen, and The Secret Diaries of Charlotte Bronte. This is her first novel not set on a famous literary entity, though her love for literature definitely comes through in both Tyler and Nicole. I have to say that I really enjoyed the ending of this book, especially after reading James's own thoughts on it. I won't spoil it for you, but I think you'll like it as well.
