The movie isn't due out in theaters until October, but there are finally trailers and clips for people like me to feast their eyes on while waiting for that release date. And for any of you who haven't yet read the book, there are multiple editions available!
Today actually marks the release of the pretty new movie-tie-in edition featuring Matt Damon as our hero, Mark Watney. (And he's PERFECT for the role!) I just happen to have one of these handsome editions in hand to give away today, too!
Don't know what the book is about? Well, here's a bit about it from Goodreads:
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him & forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded & completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—& even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—& a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?
(I've also included the link to my review from December if you want to check that out.)

nice clip
Thanks for featuring this giveaway, Becky! I consider this required (required for leisure!) reading of sorts since it was such a particular sensation last year. I don't read a lot of sci-fi, but this book begs for a broadening of horizons if anything does. I had lost sight of this important to-read item until now...one way or another, I really want to read it soon in order to be able to engage with all the discussions of the book and film occasioned by the upcoming release....Gotta say though that the cover is not at all aesthetically pleasing -- it's really rather jarring. It's especially heavy-handed given this is just the movie tie-in cover...amd odd choice to me, anyone think it makes a good cover?
Sounds good! Thanks for the chance.
