An ordinary man can... surround himself with two thousand books... and thenceforward have at least one place in the world in which it is possible to be happy. ~Augustine Birrell

Books, Brains 'n Blood Read-a-Thon
Alrighty, the ladies over at My Shelf Confessions are hosting a month long event "celebrating all things zombie and vampire!" that includes a giveaway blog hop, challenges, and the Books, Brains 'n Blood Read-a-Thon. Considering I've got lots of time on my hands this weekend I decided I absolutely must sign up. But what to read?! I still haven't totally settled on that list.
I know I'm definitely planning to wrap up my two already in progress reads, Dan Smith's The Child Thief and George R. R. Martin's A Dance With Dragons. I've also got Jay Posey's Three in the TBR and Phillipa Bornikova's Box Office Poison. If I've got time beyond that I have a few other pressing things in the TBR stack as well.
The read-a-thon starts today and goes through Tuesday, August 6.
(I'm going to join the giveaway hop as well. I'm settling on the giveaway stuff as we speak. I'm thinking... well, you'll see.)
I'll be updating this post throughout the read-a-thon to keep track.
Here's my starting point:
A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin - page 384
The Child Thief by Dan Smith - page 97
Friday evening:
The Child Thief - finished
Galatea by Madeline Miller - finished (this was just an e short)
Lie Still by Julia Haeberlin - page 58
Saturday evening:
A Dance With Dragons - page 774
Sunday afternoon:
A Dance With Dragons - finished!
Tuesday night:
Three by Jay Posey - finished
Pages read: 1223
There was a lot of non reading time throughout the read-a-thon so no doubt I could have done better, but 1200 pages in 5 days isn't all that bad.
